SLSS-Affiliated Swimming Programme
Aquapak Swimming Course in Singapore
The Aquapak programme is where a child’s lifesaving journey begins. Developed by the Singapore Life Saving Society, Aquapak teaches young beginners how to move safely and confidently in the water, before they progress into the full SLSS lifesaving pathway.
At JustSwim, we offer both Aquapak 1 and Aquapak 2 in small, structured classes run by qualified SLSS instructors.

What Is the Aquapak Programme?
Aquapak is the Singapore Life Saving Society’s introductory swimming and water safety programme for young beginners. It consists of two levels, Aquapak 1 and Aquapak 2, and is designed to build the foundational water skills a child needs before progressing to the SLSS Lifesaving programme.
Aquapak is not just a learn-to-swim class. It is the formal entry point into the SLSS certification pathway, which runs from Aquapak all the way through to Bronze Medallion, Pool Lifeguard, and beyond. A child who completes both Aquapak levels leaves with real water safety skills and the foundation to pursue lifesaving as a sport or a career.
JustSwim is an SLSS-affiliated training centre. Our Aquapak classes are delivered to SLSS standards and lead directly into our Lifesaving 1, 2, and 3 programmes. For a full picture of where Aquapak sits in the SLSS certifications pathway in Singapore, see our dedicated guide.
Aquapak 1 and Aquapak 2: What Is the Difference?
Aquapak 1
Aquapak 1 is designed for complete beginners who may have little or no experience in the water. The focus is on building water confidence and introducing the foundational skills every swimmer needs.
By the end of Aquapak 1, your child will be able to:
- Enter and exit the water safely
- Float on their front and back with support
- Kick and move through the water independently
- Submerge and blow bubbles comfortably
- Follow basic water safety rules
Prerequisites: None
Aquapak 2
Aquapak 2 builds directly on Aquapak 1. It introduces survival swimming concepts and more developed water safety skills, preparing the child to enter the full SLSS Lifesaving programme.
By the end of Aquapak 2, your child will be able to:
- Swim basic freestyle and backstroke strokes
- Tread water for a sustained period
- Perform a basic survival sequence
- SSubmerge and retrieve objects from the pool floor
- Demonstrate water safety awareness in practical scenarios
Prerequisites: Aquapak 1 completion or equivalent assessed ability
Who Is the Aquapak Course For?
The Aquapak programme is the right starting point for:
- Young children with little or no swimming experience who are ready to build real water skills in a structured, progressive environment
- Children who want to eventually pursue SLSS lifesaving certifications, starting from the correct entry point in the pathway
- Parents who want more than recreational swimming for their child, specifically the water safety and survival skills that SLSS programmes are built around
- Children who have completed recreational swimming lessons and are now ready to progress into a nationally recognised lifesaving framework
If your child is already a confident swimmer and you are unsure whether Aquapak is the right starting level, contact JustSwim. We will do a brief ability check and recommend the correct entry point.
The SLSS Pathway: What Comes After Aquapak?
Aquapak is the foundation, not the finish line. After completing Aquapak 1 and 2, your child can progress through the full SLSS lifesaving pathway at JustSwim:
Aquapak 1 > Aquapak 2 > Lifesaving 1 > Lifesaving 2 > Lifesaving 3 > Bronze Medallion > Bronze Cross > Pool Lifeguard
Each level builds systematically on the one before it. By the time a child reaches Bronze Medallion level, they have developed serious water rescue and resuscitation skills that stay with them for life.
See our guide to SLSS certifications in Singapore for a full breakdown of every level in the pathway and what each one involves.

What Is The Difference Between Aquapak 1 And Aquapak 2?
Aquapak 1 focuses on building water confidence and foundational skills in complete beginners, including floating, basic propulsion, and safe water entry and exit.
