Lifesaving 1 Award
Start Strong With the Basics of Water Safety and Non-Contact Rescues
Pre-requisites: Must be at least 11 years old, able to swim 25 metres comfortably, and tread water for 2 minutes.
Focus: Water safety fundamentals and land-based rescue methods.
Skills Covered: Identifying different swimmer types, reaching rescues, and how to throw flotation aids.
Pass Requirement: Swim 100 metres using any recognised stroke.
Lifesaving 2 Award
Build On What You’ve Learned — Start Practising Water-Based Rescues
Pre-requisite: Must have passed Lifesaving 1.
Focus: Introduction to resuscitation and in-water assistance for distressed swimmers.
Skills Covered: Mouth-to-mouth breathing, rope throws, and towing resistant or unconscious casualties.
Pass Requirement: Swim 150 metres confidently.
Lifesaving 3 Award

Focus: Prepares you for the Bronze Medallion and beyond with advanced water survival and rescue drills.

You only need to meet a basic swim requirement:
